How to replace an external outlet with an internal

How to replace an external outlet with an internal one?For wiring of a hidden type, as a rule, it is necessary to install sockets of the corresponding type, that is, hidden. Very often there are external outlets in the apartment. Perhaps, when installing the wiring, the previous owner of the apartment or an electrician performing work to replace the wiring decided to save his time and installed an outdoor type socket. He greatly simplified the work, since he did not have to mount the box directly into the wall for concealed socket installation.

The external outlet does not fit into the interior design of the apartment, since its entire body is located outside the wall. At this stage, the landlord decides to fix this problem and install a hidden socket, that is, an internal one.

Preparation for work

How to replace an external outlet with an internal one?Firstly, it is necessary to prepare for the work. The installation of a hidden outlet involves the formation of a large amount of dust. Therefore, remove things that may get dirty during work. Then prepare everything you need to install a new outlet. We will need an internal type socket, as well as an installation box for the socket, which is pre-mounted on the wall.

Before you start work on replacing the outlet, you must disconnect the wiring line that is connected to this outlet, that is, you must disconnect the corresponding automatic machine in the dashboard.

Making a hole for the outlet

The hole in the wall can be made in several ways. The first way is to use a special nozzle for a drill. This nozzle cuts a hole in the wall in the shape of a circle. In order to get a hole it remains only to knock out the inside of the circle.

If this nozzle is not available, then for the installation of one outlet it is impractical to acquire it. In this case, you can use another way - make a hole in the wall with a chisel and hammer.

The adequacy of the depth of the hole in the wall is determined by fitting the box. To fix the box in the wall, you can use alabaster. Therefore, make a hole in the wall slightly larger than the box so that when applying alabaster the box does not protrude beyond the wall.

Install the box under the outlet

Before you begin installing the box, make a hole in it, which will lead the wire to connect the mounted outlet.

Prepare a small amount of alabaster to fix the installation box in the wall. Moisten a hole in the wall and the mounting box with water. Then apply a small amount of alabaster into the hole and directly onto the box. Install the box on the wall, level it, and leave it for a few minutes to harden the alabaster. If the alabaster is old, then you need to wait more time, since it is highly likely that its properties have deteriorated somewhat.

Install and connect the outlet

Install and connect the outlet

When the box is mounted, you can begin to install the outlet. Before that, clean the wire and insert it into the hole in the box. Take the outlet and connect the wire of the wiring line to it. After that, carefully place the socket in the box and lock it. To fix the socket inside the box, special antennae are provided, which extend to the sides when two screws are screwed located at the edges of the socket.

When the body of the outlet is mounted, install its body. After that, you can turn on the circuit breaker, which provides power to this outlet. You have replaced the outlet. In order to check the health of the installed outlet, turn on some household appliance. If the socket was connected correctly, the connected device will receive power.

A rather interesting and practical article ..... it is very useful, because at the present time it is very often encountered in Soviet-type houses with such a problem.

Stupid article. It is not clear to whom it is written. An experienced electrician does not need, but not an experienced and average man will only spoil the wall.
