I AM ITSELF: Blonde and Rosette

How can a girl replace an outlet on her own.

How to replace a power outlet for a girlEven the most fashionable interior can spoil such a trifle as an old outlet. Most often, the hostess notices them last, and changing it is simply scary, because you still have to deal with electricity.

Of course, you can call a specialist, ask a neighbor, and the husband probably understands them. But what to do for a young and active girl who still lives without a husband, ends up working simultaneously with those services that can help, and the neighbor does not cause any trust.

In fact, the devil is not so terrible as he is painted. Of course, we are not ardent feminists, but we can easily cope with such a trifle as a socket.

So, step by step instructions for replacing the outlet:

1. Turn off the electricity! It can be an electric meter in your apartment or on the landing. The main thing is that no one turns it on in the process of replacing the outlet.

2. It is necessary to dismantle the old socket. (Remember how the wires were inserted into the terminals!)

3. Next will have to do as the case may be. When you remove the front part of the old outlet - you will either see standard size socket, in case the house is quite new, but most often there may be metal boxes or plastic rings a little larger than necessary. In this case, the box will have to be removed and a new one smeared.

4. The old socket can be removed with an ordinary hammer or chisel. Carefully without damaging the wires, knock out the solution around it and remove the box.

5. It will be easiest to smear a new undergrowth with gypsum or alabaster.

6. A little later, make sure that the undergrowth is dry and does not move in the opening, clean it inside with a rag from excess alabaster or gypsum.

7. Next, insert the wires into the terminals of the outlet, in the same order in which they were inserted into the old outlet.

8. It is best to fix the socket in the box with screws.

9. And only after that you can close the outlet with the front panel.

10. Only now we turn on traffic jams, automatic machines. And enjoy the new and high-quality made socket!

Let me make a little addition. After disconnecting the circuit breaker or circuit breaker in the apartment or on the stairwell. IT IS NECESSARY TO MAKE SURE THAT IT HAS WORKED AND IN THE SOCKET IS NO VOLTAGE. This can be checked using the indicator screwdriver. It may happen that the old machine does not open the circuit and the socket remains energized. And if we are talking about a stairwell, then there you can generally mix up your switch with a neighbor.

The article is nonsense of wild grief of "experts" from electricians, or a dumb blonde!
The complete neglect of the basics of human life, safety regulations and PUE !!!!
Never climb on your own! If a person was not taught to communicate with electric networks, do not expose his (neighbor) life to danger, and even more so - to his husband!
Believe me, no one will do better than qualified electric staff!

Dear Konstantin, I began to make repairs and the first thing I did was call an electrician who poked into the socket (without turning off the switch), said that he couldn’t do anything and left without doing anything. Then I made the sockets in the room and the switch myself, carefully reading the above article. Everything works. It was easier for me to make an electrician myself than to waste nerves and time on debriefing in Des.

It means that bad electricians live in your city, and as for the wiring, I agree with Konstantin, it’s better not to climb, otherwise it can even lead to deaths ...

Konstantin, my opinion is better than no one will do it yourself. The main thing is to follow safety precautions. I think that every owner should be able to perform such simple things as replacing an outlet. Disconnecting / connecting two or three wires to a power outlet is not a difficult job; here, “great knowledge” is not required.

I would like to add that before connecting the conductors to a new outlet, they must be visually inspected for a break, melting of the insulation. If the conductors are in normal condition, then you can safely put a new outlet. If any visible damage is noticed, then this is another conversation. In this case, you need to contact a specialist to replace the wiring line or, if possible, do the work yourself.

Well, if you started a repair, then you need to pay attention to the condition of the apartment electrician right away, before the start of the repair, so that later you do not have to do double work.
