Electric sockets with a timer

Electric sockets with a timerThe timer socket is one of the most useful and at the same time affordable elements of home automation. Such a simple device can be very useful for you.

The timer socket can turn on the heater well in advance of your arrival, provide a comfortable temperature, and it can also control devices on a schedule.

For example, the inhabitants of aquariums and terrariums need to turn on the light and compressor only at certain times. Also, in the long-term absence of the house, a timer socket with the function of random switching on, will allow you to create the effect of presence in the house, which will serve as a certain protection for your house. In these and many other cases, timer sockets are simply irreplaceable!

There are two types of timers: electronic and mechanical. Mechanical timers are easier to operate. In them, the clockwork is engaged in the work of the program. The on and off time is adjusted by pressing the sectors located around the dial. Each segment is 15 minutes (or 30, depending on the model), so up to 96 (48) programs for this type of timer outlet can be installed in a 24-hour period.

To install the program on such an outlet, you need to set the current time on a rotating disk. Now, paying attention to the dial, click on the 15-minute segments corresponding to the time when the appliance should work. At the same time, it is important not to forget to turn on the device itself, so that the socket with a timer can fulfill its function.

Installing the program on a power outlet

There are also sockets with a sleep timer only. For example, to set the device to turn off after 30 minutes, you just need to pull the ring equipped with an indicator. The color of the indicator depends on the mode of the appliance: used - yellow, in sleep mode - green, increased power consumption (or circuit) - red. In order to be able to set the exact time before the power supply is off, a scale is provided on it to help with this.

An example of a mechanical timer outlet is Model Expert E-TM-24x3,5kw-B. It has 2 modes that are switched using the button on the side. In the first mode, the outlet works constantly, and in the second - in tandem with a timer. That is, the timer has the ability to disable at all. This model of a socket-timer has a load ceiling of 3500 W, you can connect it to a 220V socket. There is also a 1.2V NiMH battery for running the timer without a network for more than 100 hours.

Unlike mechanical ones, electronic sockets-timers allow you to install up to 140 programs on / off of an electrical appliance. They also have a built-in presence function, which turns on the light spontaneously at different times in the intervals from six in the evening to six in the morning.

Speaking of electronic sockets with a timer, it should be noted that there are daily and weekly types of sockets. Mechanical ones are only per diem - the program works the same every day. But electronic ones can be either daily or weekly - customizable for a week in advance. It is also very convenient, especially for those who are out of debt due to business trips or for owners of suburban homes.

Using the weekly timer socket, you can set the lights to turn on in the evenings, which will scare away “unexpected guests”, and you can also take care of timely automatic watering of plants and their lighting, as well as the inclusion of light in rooms with animals. To set a weekly timer on such outlets there are special keys and a display.

Timer Model Expert E-TE can rightfully be called an electronic device on which you can set 10 timers. The timer can be set both for every day and for a specific day of the week, thanks to the 24/7 programming system. The timer socket has two outputs: one socket works on a timer, the other only directly. The minimum setup time is one minute.

The temperature at which the outlet model can work ranges from -10 to +40 degrees. Due to this, the Expert E-TE socket can be effectively used outdoors or in a garage. The moisture protection system represented by IP20 coating also contributes to this.

As well as in the mechanical Expert device, the electronic also has a Ni 1.2 battery for backup power supply and preservation of preset programs. In addition, on this model of the outlet, you can select the 12/24 hour time display mode, there are also summertime and RENDOM functions that allow you to turn on the light in any program for a time from 1 to 30 minutes from 6 pm to 6 am. Also on the device there is an indicator indicating the operation of the outlet.

The well-known company Feron offers to use Timer Socket TM 22, which allows you to set up to 8 different timers for one day. The operating temperature range is the same as that of the Expert E-TE model - from -10 to +40 degrees. There is also a daylight saving time function. The model of battery used is NiMN.

Also a great example of electronic timers is the TE-15 EKF. This timer is equipped with a protective cover that allows you to operate it outdoors. It is also equipped with a built-in battery, which allows you to save the installation data for several months. The single-phase timer itself is very compact and allows you to control the load up to 16A. A big plus of this model is the presence of 15 different modes, allowing you to set a program of any complexity for a timer to suit your every need.

Oh, what a wonderful invention, it would be very useful in the household, by the time you would have washed the laundry and warmed it up in the oven !!!!! ALMOST SMART HOUSE!
And for those who have aquariums - terrariums are a generally necessary thing, the animals there are very finicky.
Yes, science does not stand still! This makes me happy!

Thank you for the article! I bought myself such a timer, I plan to install it in the winter on the heating pump, and while this cool thing works in the lighting of the yard, I really like it (it includes an energy saving from 9 pm to 5 am). In winter, you can turn on the oil cooler through it, or an electric boiler, only with a contactor.
