What to do if the electric stove does not work

What to do if the electric stove does not workWhat to do if the electric stove does not work? To answer this question, we consider the characteristic signs of typical malfunctions of electric stoves:

  • The oven and burners do not heat up at all, the indicators do not light up;

  • One of the burners or the oven does not heat up at all, or does not heat up enough;

  • Oven or hob heating does not match switch position;

  • The backlight in the oven does not work.

Obviously, all these symptoms indicate the absence or lack of current in a particular electrical circuit of a household appliance. But before proceeding with the diagnosis, the first thing to do is disconnect the stove from the network, and only then start the search for the defect.

If nothing is heating up, the lamps (neither indicator, nor in the oven) do not light up, there is no reaction to the turn of the switches, which means that power to the stove from the mains is not supplied. Check if there is voltage at the outlet.

To do this, first of all, make sure that the machines are not knocked out, is there any light in the apartment. If everything is in order, it remains to check specifically the socket for the stove and the power cord of the stove itself, for this you can use a household multimeter.

If the malfunction turns out to be due to a lack of voltage in the socket of the plate, you should check the socket itself: are the contacts firmly connected, is there a burnt wire. If the outlet is all right, but there is no voltage in it, then the lead-in wiring is faulty, and a thorough professional repair will be required here. If there is a malfunction in the network cable of the panel, replace the network cable.

If the indicators light up, but does not heat the hotplate or oven, or is the heat weak? This indicates that it has burned out. heating element spiral, or the wire accidentally disconnected from the burner or from the heating element of the oven, or a malfunction in the power switch.

First of all, check everything visually, inspect the connections, whether everything is tightened, if there are any burnt wires, if there is an unreached nut - hold on, tighten, make the connection reliable. If there is a burnt wire, repair it.

If everything looks good, “Ring” with a multimeter spiral chains: in hobs, in the oven. Check the power switches, and if the switch is a problem, repair it or replace it with a new one. In the event of a break in a specific burner (or heater heater), just replace it with a new one, since there are always the most common types of burners in electrical goods stores, just pick a suitable new one, in extreme cases, an authorized service center will always help you.

What to do if the degree of heating does not match the position of the switch knob? And this again is a sign of either a blown spiral (or part thereof), or a malfunction of the switch. Ring the spiral with a multimeter, check the switch, and replace if necessary.

A common problem is the lack of light in the oven. Here, the reason may be one of two things: the bulb has blown out or there is no contact with the wires. There is no contact - either the connection of the wires (the wires themselves) needs to be restored, or the button-switch should be replaced. The bulb has blown - replace the bulb.

To carry out repair work related to disassembling the electric stove, minimal skills are required, however, if you are not confident in your abilities or consider independent repair of the stove inappropriate or unnecessary, then contact professionals, electric stove repair specialists, and a company service center at last. If you decide to repair the stove yourself, remember the safety precautions!

    Useful info. But again, I would like to note that if you absolutely do not understand electrics, then according to one article, you should not go into this matter. But, this is my opinion. You just need to start small. Repair the plug from the outlet, read literature, familiarize yourself with safety precautions. Otherwise, wait for trouble. And for people versed, sites like this one will surely be useful.
