Overview of modern Philips LED bulbs

Philips LED lamps are considered one of the most high-quality and durable among analogues. The company itself has an excellent reputation, based on more than a century of international experience. With all the authority, on some packages of its LED lamps, the manufacturer responsibly declares that the lighting devices of this brand are able to serve reliably for more than 15 years. At the moment, the range of Philips LED lamps is quite wide and diverse, let's look at it.

LED lighting in the house

There are several standard forms of Philips LED lamps, from which each consumer can choose what is right for his purpose:

  • A pear is a classic form like an incandescent lamp, only inside is not a spiral, but LEDs.

  • Candle - an elongated compact form designed for chandeliers and sconces.

  • A drop is a special form with an elongated base and an extended service life.

  • Ball - a form for decorative design solutions.

  • Reflex - an LED analogue of a halogen lamp of directional light.

  • Linear - LED analogue of a classic fluorescent lamp.

Technically, lamps differ from each other by the type of cap, power, brightness, color temperature of the glow, the presence or absence of the ability to use a lamp with a dimmer (dimmable and non-dimmable lamps, see - What is the difference between dimmable lamps from ordinary).

The typical energy efficiency (light output) of a Philips LED lamp is around 95 Lm / W, which is about 10 times higher than the average classic incandescent lamp.

Overview of modern Philips LED bulbs

The power of an LED lamp can be selected from a standard range from 1.7 to 40 W, which is the equivalent of incandescent lamps from 15 to 300 W in terms of amount of light, from a light bulb for a refrigerator to a searchlight. Luminous flux of lamps - from 130 to 5000 Lm. With a color temperature range from 2000 to 10000 K, that is, from warm yellow (almost orange) to a cool bluish tint. The most popular socles are present here: E14, E27 and E40.

Pear shape

Pear-shaped LED lamp

The pear-shaped lamp is the most common. It is suitable for most common applications: in the hallway, in the kitchen, in the restroom, wherever you need a simple light, directed from top to bottom, without the need for a bright light spot on the ceiling. The peculiarity of the design of the LED bulb is that here the back of the lamp is covered with a plastic cap that creates a shadow from the side of the cartridge.

Available color temperatures: warm, white, cold. Available luminous fluxes: from 130 to 5000 Lm. There are all kinds of capacities, in addition, a special 40 W lamp with an E40 base of 5000 Lm and a color temperature of 6500 K is presented in the lineup.

Special Pear Varieties

SlimStyle lamp with improved heat dissipation

In 2014, Philips developed a special “pear” called SlimStyle with an improved heat sink that can last 25 years. And for lovers of special forms, the MASTER LEDbulb line has recently been released, inside which the LEDs repeat the shape of the filament. A number of lamps are presented at a power of 5 to 15 W with a color temperature of 2200 to 2700 K and a luminous flux of 470 to 1521 Lm. The manufacturer claims a life of 40 years!

Candle shape

LED lamp in the shape of a candle

Evidently shaped lamps are ideal for table lamps, chandeliers and sconces, although in principle they are suitable for anywhere. It is possible to choose the base E14 or E27, the color temperature from warm to cold white with a luminous flux of 550 or 600 Lm. The usual power of LED "candles" is in the range of 6.5 watts. There are even stylized options for candles, in which there is a curl on the tip, as if the candle light is swaying in the wind.

Drop shape

The rounded shape of the lamp is a cross between a pear and a candle. A narrow, candle-like shape with a higher power allows the use of lamps of this shape in small spaces where more light is needed. The service life of the drop-shaped lamp, declared by the manufacturer, is 15 years.

Ball

Spherical point light sources with a matte diffuser are what you need for decorative interior decoration. They are available for power from 8.5 to 16.5 watts, with cold and warm light. The lamp itself - already looks like an independent lamp.

Reflex

LED reflex lamp

The so-called accent spots and reflectors for local lighting are designed to highlight individual zones in the kitchen, in the bathroom, under the ceiling, in a niche, etc. Pin caps (along with conventional ones) greatly expand the scope of their application. There are black and white colors of the lamp housing, so for any interior you can easily choose the most suitable model. The color temperature reaches 6500 K. Among those reflex lamps that have a regular base, there are dimmable models.

LED lamps are much safer than fluorescent and, of course, more environmentally friendly. Philips is considered the most famous and reliable brand in everything related to lighting technology. By fame and popularity they can only compete with them. OSRAM. If I'm not mistaken, then they belong to Siemens. True, due to their branding, Philips lamps and OSRAM are more expensive than lamps of other less well-known manufacturers. They can also be taken. I do not advise only anonymous Chinese.
