Controlled sockets and switches ELRO

In this short review, we will consider the controlled sockets and regulators AB600 from the Dutch company ELRO. In fairness, we note that the AB600 product line is positioned by the manufacturer as a home automation system, mainly designed for remote control of lighting, but it can be controlled, in principle, not only with lamps or spotlights, but also with any other household electrical appliances of various capacities.

The AB600 line includes both sockets and built-in regulators designed for the maximum allowable load power from 250 to 3500 watts. Each of these devices can be installed in a convenient place for the user, and as for the built-in regulators, they can even be installed in the luminaire bodies. Invariably one thing - sockets and regulators are controlled from a remote control.

So, the AB600 system includes six types of devices:

  • AB600R - Battery Operated Programmable Remote Control

  • AB600S - removable socket with remote on / off;

  • AB600WD - removable socket with remote on / off for the street;

  • AB600D - removable socket with remote power control (regulator dimmer);

  • AB600IS - built-in switch with remote control;

  • AB600ID - built-in regulator (dimmer) with remote control.

 AB600 system

Each of the system components can be purchased separately, and kits from several sockets with a remote control are also on sale. Convenient here is that you can purchase several different components of the system, selecting them individually. Next, we consider in more detail each of these devices.

control panel AB600R

Each socket or built-in regulator of the ELRO AB600 system is controlled with remote control ab600roperating in the range of 433 MHz. The remote control comes with a 12 volt battery. Using this remote control, you can control up to 16 sockets or regulators from a distance of up to 50 meters.

The remote control signal is personally coded for each receiver, since the settings are pre-set using the rotary switch located on the back of the remote control.

Each of the 16 devices has a Learn button, when clicked on, the device’s self-learning mode is activated with reference to the remote control and assigning numbers to 1 to 16 for each specific device (from A to P on the remote control switch). After synchronization of the remote control and the controlled device, the remote control system is ready for operation.

On the front side of the remote control there is a switch and buttons. The switch allows you to select the device numbers that you want to control, for example, from 1 to 4, from 5 to 8, from 9 to 12, or from 13 to 16, and with the buttons you can turn on / off or smoothly adjust the load power (for example, the intensity of the lamp glow).

Detachable socket AB600S

Detachable socket AB600S It looks like a removable network adapter or adapter, supplemented by an electronics unit. This model is designed to power loads up to 3.5 kW with remote control on and off without the ability to adjust power.

In this outlet you can include for example TEN or a similar powerful active load, which periodically needs to be remotely turned on or off, without the need to specially walk each time a few meters to the switch or outlet.

AB600WD - removable outlet for the street

AB600WD - removable outlet for the street. It has a protective cover that protects the plug from moisture and dust. This socket is capable of switching a load of up to 1 kW without the ability to adjust power, that is, here again, the function of remote on / off using the AB600R remote control is implemented.

AB600D - removable socket with dimmer function

AB600D is a removable socket with dimmer function. This outlet works like a dimmer, while being able to withstand a load of up to 400 watts. Using the remote control from the remote control, it is possible to smoothly adjust the power supplied, for example, to reduce or increase the brightness of the lighting system, which is switched on periodically or switched on continuously.

If less power is required, up to 250 watts, provided that the consumer is always connected in the same place, then the AB600ID built-in remote control dimmer will be a better solution, which we will consider below.

AB600IS - built-in remote control switch

AB600IS - built-in remote control switch. It is capable of switching a load of up to 1 kW by pressing a button on the remote control without the need to stick and pull out the plug or approach the switch each time.

If you want to turn on and off the electrical appliance with a power of up to 1 kW from the remote control, which is always in the same place all the time, then this solution is for you. The AB600IS fits easily even in a small junction box.

AB600ID - Built-in dimmer for remote control of load power with a limit of 250 watts

The AB600ID is a built-in dimmer for remote control of load power with a limit of 250 watts. Ideal for stationary lighting systems in residential premises.

If you need to equip the lamp with a remote controller, for example, to turn a bright table lamp into a night lamp in the evening, then this is the solution for you - you can simply place a dimmer in the lamp housing and adjust the brightness without having to turn on another lamp or twist the wall dimmer knob.

In this way, the ELRO sockets and remote controls ABRO Series will be a great addition to home automation systems and make your life even more comfortable.

    Soon, as in science fiction films, we generally stop getting up from our sofas, everything will be with control panels. Let's start confusing which remote control for what!
