How to seal an electric meter? The procedure for sealing the electricity meter

When connecting a private house or apartment to electric networks, there is no question of whether to make sealing of the meter or not - this is a mandatory procedure, without which it is impossible to connect to electric networks. Therefore, if you need the first connection or connection after the suspension of power supply services (for example, due to violation of the terms of the contract), the question arises of the need to seal the meter. What is a filling, and for what purpose is it performed?

Sealing meter It represents the installation of a special seal on the metering device for electricity, which prevents opening the case and, accordingly, undesirable, from the point of view of supplying organization of manipulations with the metering device and other elements of the metering board.

The seal is installed exclusively on a working meter that has been verified; accordingly, the presence of a seal on the meter also indicates that it meets all the requirements of the supplying organization. A seal is an element of one-time use, therefore, in case of violation of its integrity it is impossible to restore it, the only option is to re-seal it.

The meter must always be sealed, the absence of a seal recorded by the representatives of the supplying organization entails a large fine, since in the absence of a seal it is possible to interfere with the operation of the meter or unauthorized connection bypassing the meter - in fact, theft of electricity.

Therefore, if, for one reason or another, the integrity of the seal is damaged, then immediately contact the supplying organization for re-sealing the meter.

How to seal an electric meter? Let us consider in detail the procedure for sealing the metering device, as well as what is needed for the metering device to be sealed, and how to do it correctly.

The procedure for sealing the electricity meter

1. Preparatory phase

Sealing involves the installation of a seal on an already installed one and, as mentioned above, attorney. Therefore, this stage provides for the selection of the necessary metering device for its further verification in the supplying organization, as well as a metering board (metering and distribution panel).

In this case, one should not rush to purchase a dashboard and meter, since most power supply companies prefer a limited number of manufacturers of electricity meters and a certain type of metering panels.

That is, a situation may arise when you purchase a metering and distribution panel, metering device, carry out work on its installation and connection of circuits, and they will refuse to seal it. Some organizations have purchased metering devices and shields for their installation, in this case you do not need to purchase anything, you only need to pay a fixed amount.

The same with the installation location of the metering panel. The consumer is limited in choosing exclusively from those options that will be allowed by representatives of the supplying organization. As a rule, when choosing the locations of consumer metering devices, organizations are guided by the convenience of taking readings by controlling persons.

As for the installation of the metering board, connecting the meter and other circuits in the shield, in this case, the representatives of the supplying organization do not always do their job efficiently, which in the future may entail negative consequences.Therefore, it is recommended that these works, with the consent of the supplying organization, be carried out independently or to engage an outside specialist for this.

It should be remembered that after sealing the metering board it will be impossible to make any changes to the shield. After sealing the accounting shield, all necessary manipulations are performed exclusively by representatives of the supplying organization, which entails additional costs and a waste of time.

Therefore, the installation work must be carried out correctly, all contact connections in the shield must be reliable, in order to avoid the need to unseal the shield in the future.

When choosing a circuit breaker and other electrical devices, depending on the type of metering or metering and distribution panel, it is recommended to give preference to the most reliable and high-quality products. In this case, you can’t save, because low-quality components can quickly fail, and you will have to spend additional money on replacing them and also involve representatives of the supplying organization.

2. Registration of necessary documents in the supplying organization

The next step is paperwork for sealing the metering device. The meter is sealed, as a rule, by representatives of the sales organization with which an agreement is concluded on the provision of electricity services to an apartment or private house. The consumer submits an application of a standard form for sealing the metering device.

In the event that the metering device is sealed for the first time - when connected to electrical networks, then problems, as a rule, do not arise. If we are talking about reconnecting to the power grid after the power supply was suspended due to violation of the terms of the contract or re-sealing due to damage to the seal, then in this case it will be necessary to eliminate the violations first and, if necessary, pay a fine.

Sealing, in accordance with the rules of the supplying company, is paid by the buyer, therefore, the final stage of paperwork is the payment for the service of sealing the metering device. In some supplying companies, the procedure for connecting to electric networks provides for the installation and connection of the meter only by company representatives.

In this case, permission may be given to mount the meter and lay and connect the circuits, with the exception of connecting directly to the power grid, but you still have to pay a separate payment for the relevant work, regardless of whether the work was actually performed or not.

In other companies, the rules may allow the installation and connection of the meter to be performed independently, but in this case it will be necessary to pay for the circuit verification service before sealing. That is, in any case, if it is necessary to seal the metering device, two services must be paid.

3. Sealing the meter

The next step is directly sealing the metering device. It would seem that the matter has almost been done: the meter is mounted and connected, all documents are completed, it remains to put a seal and that’s it. But this stage is the most responsible, since it is possible that the seal may be incorrectly installed, which in the future, during the first inspection by the representative of the supplying organization, may result in a fine.

Therefore, it is necessary to be present during the sealing of the metering device (metering board) in order to be sure that the work is done correctly and the mounted seal is not damaged.

If the metering device itself is sealed, then in this case you should pay attention to the passage of the sealing wire or fishing line through the special holes of the terminal cover and other housing elements that can be disassembled.That is, the seal should be installed in such a way that the possibility of unauthorized connection and access to the internal elements of the metering device is excluded.

The final stage of sealing an electric meter is the signing of an act of sealing. Before signing this document, you should once again check the integrity of the sealing wire (fishing line) and the seal itself. In order to avoid inconsistencies, it is also necessary to check all the data specified in the act, namely the meter readings at the time of sealing, the readings of the old electric meter (if it was replaced), the type and serial number of the meter.
